SG at "International Conference on Sustainable and Energy-efficient Building" in Chengdu (China)

As the sole representative of the private sector, SoftGrid presents alongside GIZ, DGNB, dena and CSUS-GBRC (China Green Building Research Center) to launch the brand new DGNB International System in China.

The 17th session of China's largest and most important conference on sustainable building was held last week from 18th to 20th May in Chengdu.

Launch of the DGNB System International in China

The presentation primarily focused on the practical application of DGNB Systems in China based on our first-hand experience with certified real-life projects such as the BASF R&D Center II and Ardex Headquarter in Pinghu.

Further elaborated was the specific role of the sustainability consultant - i.e. us at SoftGrid - whose approach to the project and planning philosophy will be the decisive factor for a project's substantial success - beyond the marketing effect of formal certification. Our examples show, how SoftGrid's project-tailored consulting strategies lead to very different building concepts at comparable DGNB scoring. This is to show that every DGNB project that answers directly to owner and user needs generates its individual "signature" in the DGNB evaluation matrix.

Above all, the presentation highlighted the importance of now having available a new, international DGNB System, which increasingly steps away from references and specifications of the German DIN towards a targeted and flexible application of international standards. Making it internationally compatible with local markets, planning culture and construction processes.

The economic case for a DGNB Certification in China is now further strengthened by the synergies in line with the DGNB / GBL Double Certificate, launched in 2019: simultaneous GBL (Green Building Label) certification multiplies access to local subsidies.
